Become a Part of the St. James Fire and Rescue Team
The St. James Fire Department is constantly recruiting and training new Firefighters, EMTs, and Fire Police. With two separate fire houses in the Town, there is a place for all to serve.
Training
​
The training you receive in order to perform successfully in any position will give you the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform with the utmost of confidence. You will be trained to the degree necessary to be able to perform assigned tasks safely and professionally.

Whatever your interests and skills, the SJFD has a place for you.
Fire Fighter
Three months of hands-on training followed by twice-per-week drills. Responds to all fire calls.
Fire Police
Two days of initial basic training plus occasional meetings for specialized instruction. Responds to all fire and medical emergency calls plus duty at special events.
EMS
Our SJFD operates at the Emergency Medical Technician (Basic) level. Members serving in this area require extensive and in-depth training and proficiency demonstrations.
